    About the Role

    Haugesund International School provides an English-speaking, international education based on the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. The school offers the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for its primary students and focuses on developing knowledgeable, caring, confident and open-minded learners in a supportive multicultural environment.

    The Primary Homeroom Teacher will be responsible for creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment, planning and delivering inquiry-based learning experiences, and supporting students' academic, social and emotional development.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme.
    • Serve as the primary classroom teacher and provide effective academic and pastoral support to students.
    • Develop inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage curiosity, critical thinking and independent learning.
    • Differentiate instruction according to students' individual learning needs, abilities and interests.
    • Monitor, assess and document students' academic progress and overall development.
    • Establish a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
    • Encourage students to become responsible, reflective, caring and open-minded learners.
    • Integrate opportunities for collaboration, communication, research and problem-solving into classroom learning.
    • Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians regarding students' progress and well-being.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues and the wider school community.
    • Participate in staff meetings, school events, professional development and other school activities.
    • Support the school's multicultural and internationally minded learning environment.
    • Maintain accurate student records and assessment documentation.
    • Promote respect for different cultures and encourage local and global citizenship, in line with the school's educational mission.
